The Best Thing About Being Back From College Is The Fact That I Can Do What I Want, When I Want

I'm finally seen as an adult.

It's finally summer! Yay! Finals week has always been brutal but a college finals week? Oh! It killed me! I got maybe 15 hours of sleep total that week! But thankfully, it's over now. The summer vacation started off with me sleeping for like 14 hours a day but that's fine, we thrivin'!

What I love most about this summer though is the crazy amount of freedom I have. I no longer have to ask for permission; yeah, that's right, I just walk up to my parents and tell them I'm not going to be home at this time on this day and they just tell me to have fun and be safe.

This may be normal for some of you, but I am an 18-year-old INDIAN girl. Yup. Now, do you see why I'm so mind blown? My loving but overprotective parents allow me to do as I please. It's amazing and I am extremely grateful!

Now that I have permission to do things, I am making actual plans with my friends to do fun things like go hiking or go to the beach or have picnics. I feel like after a rough school year, we deserve to relax for a little while. I have actually never felt this relaxed and light-hearted in about a year. Academic stress is a really big obstacle that keeps me from being truly calm and at peace. I need to work on getting my body to relax even with a large academic load, but this load isn't going to go away permanently any time soon and it's not healthy for me to be in a constant state of stress.

If you yourself have a tough time dealing with academic stress, I recommend spending this summer doing things that bring you peace and make you happy! As the new semester approaches, make sure you have all the supplies and textbooks you need to succeed. Planning ahead and learning to manage your time goes a long way.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
