10 Things Only Older Sisters Know Are True

I am the older sister of a sixteen year old brother. Being an older sister is one of the best things in the world, but it is also one of the toughest. I am three years older than my brother and growing up with him was amazing. When we we're little he used to look up to me and I was a role model for him. Now, being a normal sixteen year old, he is too cool for everything. Here is the life of an older sibling as told by Disney.

1. Dressing up for Halloween with your younger sibling.

2. Trying to convince your parents to let you and your sibling do something.

3. When your sibling gets in trouble for something you did, and you get away with it.

4. Seeing a picture of your sibling kissing their significant other on Instagram or Snapchat.

5. Explaining to your parents that your younger sibling is not an angel.

6. Realizing that your younger sibling is not a baby anymore and doesn't need you as much.

7. Still babying them no matter how old they get.

8. When they come to you with a problem that you know won't matter in a few years.

9. When your younger sibling makes a stupid mistake.

10. Watching them grow into a wonderful person and knowing it's because of you.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
