College is full of so many opportunities. Of course, getting an education is the main priority. I learn a lot through my classes, but I also learn so much from the organizations I am a part of. Being involved is a choice. Not everyone chooses to be involved, and I don't think anyone should be judged for that! I'm busy, but I love it and wouldn't change a thing.
I have met so many amazing people through the organizations I am a part of. I've gotten to know people from varying majors and walks of life. We all come together to enjoy our time at Longwood and interests. I have stretched myself to do things that I would have never expected myself to do. The people I have met has given me confidence and encouragement throughout the three years I have been at this school. I am so grateful for the people who have supported me and made me feel appreciated.
I have learned leadership skills that I would not have learned from taking a regular class. I have been given opportunities to be on executive boards for a couple of my organizations. Being someone who was once very shy and quiet, I have grown a lot. I have learned how to work with others to reach a common goal. I have been able to come up with ideas that I may not have been able to implement, but would love to see happen in the future. Holding positions with other Longwood students has been great; there's something about this place that makes it easier to grow and learn with others. It's not always easy to have a leadership role, but through everything, I have enjoyed every second and now have skills that I will be able to use in any future endeavors.
I have made memories that will last a lifetime. There are so many stories and experiences that involvement has given me. Being involved is more than an impressive email signature. The highs of having fun and getting to know others definitely outweighs the lows of lack of sleep and stress. I wouldn't change a thing about my involvement, and I'm so grateful I get to be involved at Longwood University.
