Being an Aunt. Something I never thought I would get to be.

You see, I am an only child so I never thought that it would even be a possibility. But now, four years later I have four nieces and I love it.

I never thought I could love a tiny human so much until I had kids of my own. It is such a different kind of love than I have ever felt. I never thought I would want to give my life to protect four little girls.

I would do everything in my life to keep them safe and happy. I know they will always have their parents but I am always going to be here and they are always going to have me wrapped around their little tiny fingers every step of the way and I couldn’t be more okay with it. I consider myself a lucky person to be an aunt and be surrounded by my nieces.

I love being able to watch them grow and flourish into incredible little humans. I get so excited to see them get all dressed up for Halloween, their birthdays, hunting for Easter eggs, and so much more.

I wouldn’t trade anything for being an aunt, especially now as I am still maturing myself. I love listening to their weird conversations, watching Moana and Secret Life of Pets over and over again, playing in their little kitchens and castles, having talks about Disney Princesses, and so much more.

Every day being their aunt makes my life so full of life and I wouldn’t change it ever.

So, girls while I know you cannot read yet I want you to know…. I love you. You guys are such a huge piece of who I am and I wouldn’t change that. I am always going to be here for you whether it be about boys, school, or anything else in-between. I am here and I will always be your sounding board.

I am always here to protect you and keep you safe. You are the lights of my life and I love you.

Love, Auntie Emma

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
