Sometimes Being Alone Is Exactly What You Need To Relax And Be Productive

Hear me out: What sounds better than a whole day dedicated to taking in everything around you at your very own pace?

You start off with taking the longest, steamiest shower you've ever taken, ridding yourself of all the negativity and dirt that's drudged up your motivation and clear thoughts.

Then, you decide what you want to tackle first. Cleaning your room, sweeping, laundry, dishes. Usually, you have a full plate of chores but right now you see it as some time to yourself.

But before you begin the rest of the day, you need something to disrupt the quiet that reminds you you're alone in a less cheerful way; you blast some music.

Now, with a couple fun steps and the beat of your favorite songs you get things done. Before you know it, hours have gone by and your home is clean and shining. You not only feel productive but ultimately relaxed and it's a wonderful feeling.

You don't even notice you're alone anymore, but you're happy and calm and you don't want it to end. Now, the day is ending and you sit down at your desk, your mind is a clean slate and you're ready to prepare yourself for what's to come. Now, you plan out what you want to take on little by little and not feel overwhelmed.

Now, I know we don't like being alone, we don't like doing chores or thinking about the future. But just a couple of hours to yourself, getting productive and ahead of schedule is something everybody needs every once in a while; most of the time not even until you finally do it.

For example, I had a one direction dance party for four hours. In that time I washed dishes, threw out the trash, did my laundry, swept the floor and cleaned every inch of my living room. I even started writing in my journal at one point. It was the most productive I had been since winter break began.

I used to think that being alone would be miserable, something I have always dreaded. However, being alone was what I needed and now that I know that I will make sure to allow time for it more often. Now, I am ready to take on what I need to take on, with a clean apartment.

So, choose you, choose health, and make sure you don't let yourself get lost in the madness of it all and make sure you give yourself those quiet moments. We all may hate to admit it, but we don't always need someone there with us, we just need ourselves.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.
