It is almost that time again. But this time it is different. Unlike high school, when you dreaded the return to school, or freshman year of college, when you were anxious about the new environment, sophomore year of college is something you can really look forward to. You’re established there. It is like another life. You have your friends, your classes, parties, weekends, trips, and a whole bunch of new and familiar things to look forward to.

The excitement of this return may be a little bit overwhelming, so here is the cast of “Friends” to break it down for you just a little bit.

1. Buying everything that you now know you need.

Remember freshman year when you didn't remember to buy a full-length mirror, a trash can, mixing bowls, or a hair-dryer? Well after going without them, you won't make that mistake. The shopping spree that you go on before the return to school won't be as much of a "shot-in-the-dark", that much is certain (or is it?).

2. Somehow trying to save money.

You have learned the hard way from your experiences last year that money really does not grow on trees. You really have to save up your cash and not go crazy buying and spending if you want to survive without having to ask your parents for money every weekend.

3. You get to see your “school friends” again (finally).

You’ve lived and grown with these people the past year, and going without them can be a little tough. So you know that once you get back to school and this friend group you’ll be ecstatic.

4. You can just walk next door to see some of your best friends.

Isn't it refreshing to be able to just pop by your friends' rooms again instead of having to make a trip out of it? No car needed here.

5. You go out on the weekends again.

You've probably missed being able to go out and just have fun and not worry about being hounded by your parents. Here is your chance again.

6. You get to make your own decisions again. You get to live on your own again. You're your own person again.

Yeah, you miss them. But let's face it. It is nice to be away from your family sometimes. Being an adult and making your own decisions (and mistakes) is a part of growing up, and a part of your life that you've missed oh, so much.

7. That moment when you get to your first day of your "easy" class and it is much harder than you thought it would be (some things never change).

Having the ability to make your own schedule is really a gift and a curse.

8. And there is a pop quiz the very next class.

And yes, this happens. It sucks.

9. But hey, you are finally in the place you love to call another home, and excited to be back.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
