The Beginning Of The Semester As Told By Rogelio De La Vega

Spring semester is around the corner. It'll be here before you know it. To prepare, just embody Rogelio De La Vega.

1. When you have to wake up before 10 a.m. for the first time in over a month. Better play some pump up music!

2. You finally get to your first class of the semester, realize how terribly boring it is and tweet about it throughout the entire lecture.

3. Then you realize you spent the entire class period on your phone and have no clue what's going on.

4. But you shake it off and head over to your next class. Too bad your class turns out to be just as boring as the last, and is smack dab in the middle of lunch time.

5. But all hope is not lost, because you have a handful of fun people sitting around you. Y'all will survive this class together.

6. After a not-so-fun day of note-taking (sort of), you finally get to go see your best friends whom you've missed so badly all Christmas break. When you're together it's like:

7. So, it's time to party down to the nearest Target (half an hour away) for a brand new back to class/back with my girls outfit.

8. You forgot all about your bad-class-blues, until you get an email from your professor. Oh right, you were tweeting all class so you didn't hear about the assignment. Whoops!

9. But your girls are all around you, and you can't wait to take on the rest of this semester together.

10. Plus, as long as you remember these wise words from El Presidente himself, you know this semester will be just fine.

Cheers to a new and exciting semester!

But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
