The summer wind blew just light enough to blow my hair in front of my face that night. It was our first time hanging out together. We watched the fireworks, to me it was a kind gesture to be friends being that it was my first summer home in a while. You stood about a foot taller than me and looked down and proceeded to push my hair behind my ear. That one picnic turned into multiple, eventually dinner dates, good morning text messages and my favorite date of all fishing.

Summer quickly turned into fall as we competed who could hit the metal signs with apples and pumpkin's first; I still want a rematch to this day. The sun went down way to fast that night and we found a prickly hay bale to sit on and watch the pig races. You stayed because you knew I thought the baby pigs were way to cute not to watch. We laughed that whole hour as you keep encouraging me to place a bet so I could win a pig nose for us to wear. When the wind blows it takes me back to that chilly fall night.

I look back on so many memories we have created, you are the person that has dropped everything you were doing to be with me when I needed you most, you have traveled great distance to make your way back to me, you have held me close when I feel I have lost my way for that I am grateful. I honestly have no idea how I got so lucky to share every moment with you. There are so many more experiences that are waiting for us to come and tackle them and I honestly can not wait. Here is to many more years ahead of us, many more memories, smiles, laughter and hugs. Here is to us.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
