One of the best things that ever happened to me while I was in college was befriending my professors. If there is one thing you should do in college that will impact the rest of your life, befriend your professors. Teaching assistants and instructors count too!
Not only could it help with your grade in the current class that you're taking because you'll feel more comfortable talking to them if something happens, you don't understand something, etc., but these professors could provide you with opportunities. Opportunities for internships, teaching assistant positions, research assistant positions, recommendation letters, graduate school ideas, and so much more. If you are on good terms with your professor and they are in a field you're interested in, you can ask them questions about every thought that's ever crossed your mind.
These people have accomplished so much, and that is why they are teaching you. They have wealths of knowledge and life experience that you don't have. They could have connections into industries, institutions, companies, that you would never have on your own.
When it comes to the real world, it is who you know. It is who you can befriend, impress, and/or inspire. Every connection matters, no matter what industry you are in or planning to go into.
So why not start with your professors?
