Walk into a store and you will hear Christmas music playing in the background. Though Thanksgiving hasn’t come yet, correct? Correct, recently Christmas has been coming sooner and sooner each year. Christmas decorations are set in stores before November, and music plays over the speakers before we put the turkey in our mouths. Christmas defiantly seems to be the outweighing Holiday this time of year. There are so many reasons why we choose to get more excited about Christmas than Thanksgiving, though both holiday are very important to share with family. Christmas is the time to give each other presents, and gather around the Christmas tree enjoying family and friends. Christmas has a different atmosphere than Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is about giving thanks and reminding people that they are special to you and how they influence you. Christmas is all about giving love through presents and a big tree that is so bright you can see it miles away.
It all begins with the shopping going around to different stores getting excited about all the new clothes and gadgets. Figuring out what people will enjoy unwrapping or something very sentimental to that person. Then comes the decorations, setting up the lights on the outside of the house and you cannot forget to hang up the wreath. As soon as the outside of the house is lit up then you blast the Christmas music and take out the cookies from the oven and go to work on the inside of the house. The tree gets assembled with the ointments, garland and a star on top. Decorating the house brings joy to everyone in the family because it brings warmth and excitement to the coming Holiday. Later on go around town and check out all the other houses decorations or themed light shows and be happy with the little things you notice. Don’t forget to put out the little bowls of red and green M&Ms around the house!
Christmas is a very exciting holiday especially when it snows then it feels like a true Christmas. Remembering back to past Christmases and thinking about how you believed Santa was real when you were younger. Collecting presents form family members, seeing the difference of what toys you wanted as a child compared to what you want once you hit high school and college. A great part of the holiday is coming together as a family and reuniting with family or friends you didn’t get a chance to see during Thanksgiving. Christmas defiantly needs to come faster and with all that comes with putting on the best Christmas party who isn’t excited? Especially all of us college students cant wait for winter break, a full month of doing nothing but hanging with friends and drinking hot chocolate while watching football games. This month gives us time to reenergize ourselves for the next semester coming up. Christmas brings light to all of us after stressing about finals, that is all behind us and we can forget about the past semester and focus on the now, and let the Christmas spirit fill you up.
