So as Spring Semester finals finish up and everyone is anxiously anticipating the release of all things school-related, you start memorizing of all the worry free days that are coming your way.
You have made plans to take a few day trips to your favorite amusement parks, go to all those concerts you did not have time for during the year, work on those bod goal, or even find that summer romance. Sadly, as the days start rolling by, you find yourself doing a lot more couch bumming and a lot less spontaneous adventure.
But fear not, my good friend! There is still enough time to make up for all those seasons you dedicated to see on Netflix, instead of being that wanderer you set out to be. Some of the adventures you can be embarking on before you settle back into the routine of school are:
1. Go tubing
As San Martians, you have probably done this more times than you can say Sewell Park. However, going tubing in the summer is a must! Go with your roommates, your boyfriend/girlfriend, your family, your pets - anyone that you think would be entertaining to watch struggle with the rapids or have a great time with.
2. Watch a meteor shower.
To our advantage, our city is not towered by gigantic skyscrapers or multiple buildings that blind us with lights. We have the pleasure of getting a city like feel as well as the beauty of the country outskirts. If you travel just a bit outside of your apartment complex you can feast your eyes on the magesticness of a meteor shower. The next shower that should be happening is Perseids - which has been active since August 11th. Take a friend and maybe a picnic basket and let the beauty of the sky light up your night!
3. Hit up the Square.
This is probably going to be one of the best times to let the wild animal out of you with no "ragrets" the next morning because you are on vacation. Granted, this won't be the last time you challenge this during the year. However you can make it into a streak - because summer.
4. Volunteer
When in summer mode there are two kinds of people when it comes to work—the "I need a job because bills" and the "what's a job?". One thing that both have in common are the why work with no pay mentality. Well, of course there is that good feeling about helping someone in need or the " looks good on a resume" part, but one thing about summer volunteering that I believe is the greatest idea to hold on to is - the chance to grow and experience.
5. Take a cooking, couponing, etc kind of class.
There is no better time to try something new than right now. Whether you want to become the next top chef of your apartment or become an extreme coupon-er, if you take the class right now and practice until school starts, you will be gold.
Basically, the greatest thing to keep in mind as the summer rolls to an end is to not mind yourself if you decided to sleep it all the way through or to compare your experience to another person's—it's to enjoy all the freedom in your own way.
Keep radiating in that unique way you got going on and if you absolutely did not feel content—wait for the next days of vacation to roll around.
