A Few Thank You's Before I Go...

Before summer break arrives, a few shout-outs to those who made this year noteworthy.

A Few Thank You's Before I Go...

Countless hours studying, many hours partying and a million stories to tell your friends back home. That is the sum up of this past year for many. But if you're like I am, those moments make your college life oh so sweet.

Library.

Thank you to the people at the library who have seen me look like a hermit in a sweatshirt that is five sizes too big even for my 5-foot-11 frame and still did not judge how I looked. Thank you for also not judging how much food I brought with me as I binge-studied for impossible finals.

Roommates.

Thank you for always dealing with my dumb ass that overcooks microwave mac and cheese. Oh and the mental breakdowns I have when college is just way too stressful at times. I don't know what I would do without late-night therapy sessions and random dance parties.

Frats.

Thanks for throwing some crazy-ass parties. Without you guys giving us a place to go, memories definitely wouldn't have been made (i.e. I wouldn't have laughed my ass off as much as I have). Even though your floors are sticky, you never have toilet paper and you guys can be a-holes, college would definitely not be the same without you.

Squad.

This one's for my partners in crime who I make memories with at the frats, ghetto houses and the good ol' library. You are the most diverse group of friends, but I don't know what I would do without any of you. Y'all make college the shiznit and make me so excited for the years to come.

Parents.

Gotta give a shout out to the people who gave me life because they are cute and corny and old. The text messages and phone calls during the week definitely help stressful weeks ease out a little bit. Oh and thanks for sending food and money because I need to learn how to manage my money better. :-)

Sisters.

You da realest, and y'all know why. Thanks for being my rock and always up to go to Puerta's, Noodles or any other high-calorie eatery. Also for never turning down a study date or turning up in the clerb (safely, of course).

There are many more I would like to thank, but the music is playing and the Academy wants me off stage. Here's to another kick-ass year at the illest school there is.

Till next semester, my friends!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

The 14 Stages Of The Last Week Of Class

You need sleep, but also have 13 things due in the span of 4 days.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
