In This Article:

College is such a great time. You meet your friends, who become family, you create these great memories and above all, you grow to be a better person than you were four years ago. Many people get comfortable within these four years. Where you are has become a norm to you and you can get stagnant, but no. I am here to talk about what you need to know before you walk across that stage.

1. Establishment.

Establishment is essential during these times of our lives because this is when you figure out the next steps in your life. Establishment is securing an opportunity for yourself. It is important because time waits for no one. You cannot wait until April to figure out what you will do next, whether that's continuing with school or that's finding a job. Knowing that you have something in place will benefit you in the long run.

Many people do not think about establishment until it is too late, which is why people struggle with securing an opportunity. Do not wait. Figure out something because it will help you in the future.

2.  It's Time To Be Selfish.

The time to be selfish is now. I am not a selfish person, I am actually selfless, but this is the time where I need to be selfish to get to where I want to be in life. If you have to remove negativity or negative people from your life, do it. You have to surround yourself with like-minded people.

By doing this one step, you'll be saving yourself any extra drama or any unnecessary stress. It's time to be an adult and you have to do what's best for you in order to succeed in your future endeavors.

3. Chase the Dream.

This last step is self-explanatory. Chase your dreams. It is super important to never give up on your dreams or give up on yourself. You are your only enemy and defeat when it comes to accomplishing your dreams and goals. Be stern and strong in what you think and believe because no one can change that, but you. Don't let people who are miserable or envious change your mind on what you can and cannot be.

Your dreams could never fail you, so continue to chase them until you have achieved every single one. Big or small.

These things are significant to know before you take those 10 steps across the stage. You want to make sure that you continue on to your greatness. Focusing on yourself is important at this point in our lives. Establishing who you are was important throughout college, but now, establishing what you will do is the primary and only focus. This may seem a little selfish or mean, but it's not, trust me.

This just shows that you are maturing and growing into the person you need to be, in order to be great in your life, this life.

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
