Being optimistic in life is crucial; for instance, positivity increases your work ethic. But it can be hard to always be happy when you have so many things on your mind. However, it's not impossible. Here are five tips that can make you more positive.

1. Everything happens for a reason

This quote is so important for helping you become a happier individual. This quote is for the obstacles you run into and you start chanting "why me". You overcome the obstacle and you realize that it was not a big deal and you most likely discovered an essential lesson from it. An example of this would be that you failed your math quiz and you are worried about your average. Here is where your "why me" starts. Now due to you failing the quiz, you work harder next time and next thing you know, you got a 100 on your math test! Now that is where this quote comes in play. This is where you realize that everything happens for a reason. Now next time you hit an obstacle, instead of crying, you will smile and work hard to overcome it.

2. Express gratitude

This is one of the easiest ways to brighten up your mood. Just thinking about all the blessings you have received gets rid of all of your negative thoughts. Our society is so caught up in pointing out all the flaws in our life, that we forget to sit down and point out all the great things about life.

3. Meditating

To meditate, find a quiet room and take long deep breaths. Breathe in love and let go of all dismissive thoughts. Meditating every day gives you a clear-cut connection between your soul, body, and mind. It puts you at peace and tranquility. And it helps with the awareness of your body.

4. Avoid judgement

This can be tricky due to a number of people who label their thoughts. A way to terminate this bad habit is by being mindful. Mindfulness not only affects others, but it affects you too. It creates a bright outlook for you too.

5. Surround yourself with positive people

Negativity is contagious. The more pessimistic people you have around you, the more repugnant your thinking gets.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
