We all know that disney changed all of our lives. But it also shaped many of the ways we deal with situations or how we live our lives. Each movie or show teaches life lessons, all while entertaining the masses. So thank you disney for being part of my world, and teaching me the bear necessities. * Pun intended.*
Disney taught me:
1. Always throw yourself theatrically onto the closest flat surface, to make a point. Because if you don't, who will even know you're upset? Words? NO WAY!
2. Anger is taken out in many ways, but most of the time it is loud. Yell, Scream, who cares? They are your feelings and you can express them how you like.
3. Or when everything seems to go wrong, throwing your head in your hands and rolling your eyes is the only way to express your problems. Hey if it feels right, just do it.
4. Always being distracted because you know other more important things are probably happening somewhere else. Especially if it is something you most definitely do not want to be doing.
5. Saying goodbye isn't just a word, it's an event. Make it emotional, but be strong. And don't forget the princess wave.
6. Never care what anyone says, especially about food. You eat what you like, do what you like, and always be true to you.
7. Friends come in all shapes and sizes. Disney doesn't judge so why should we? Since when would a lion be friends with its dinner?
8. But most of all, friendship always prevails. No matter the situation close relationships always come out on top. Always.
Throughout much of my life, Disney has always been the go to for movies, but not until I was older did I realize how important the underlying messages were. Disney not only creates a safe, fun learning opportunity for kids and even us adults who need a comforting childhood reminder, but it reminds us of the importance of certain aspects of life. Disney shows flaws. Disney shows fears. Disney shows fighting. But most of all Disney shows love. Whether it be family love, relationships, or even friendship, love is all around us. In a time like we live in love is lacking, and for the most part it has to do with differences in appearance or opinion. In disney movies and shows, none of that matters. A lion can be friends with a warthog. A monster can be good, despite his prior way of life. Most importantly, you can be you. Anyone can be and do anything they want, because the sky's the limit, or in some cases infinity and beyond. So thank you Disney for not only the life lessons, but a pretty amazing childhood. You've got a friend in me.
