Because College Me Misses These Grade School Necessities

There are some staples that made growing up in the era with which you did so much more fun and enjoyable than other generations. Likely, each generation has their favorite parts of their childhood that, if they could turn back time, some items would make their way through life with us. Easily, there are 11 "blasts from the past" that totally made our lives easier in grade school.

String Bracelets - Not going to lie, I still have string and know a lot of my friends as well who still make bracelets like we used to in middle school.

Gimp - At recess, there would always be a line at the same 3 people's desks because they were the only ones who knew how to start a gimp box.

Easy Bake Oven - You could make some real serious cakes and brownies in your small oven. I still have a slight belief that I learned my sharpest baking skills from my Easy Bake.

Bears - Literally the most unexplainable pieces of plastic that made all of us so happy - these bears lived more extravagant lives than we did.

OUCH Bubble Gum - It was only cool because of the container.

AOL Instant Messanger - The most drama infested of all social media outlets was AIM - and if no one was online, you know at some point you tried starting a fight with SmarterChild.

MASH/PUSH - The fortune tellers of our generation

Art Sets - I am certain I asked for one of these every single Christmas.

DunkARoos - The best school lunches always had DunkARoos.

Parachute - You either hated it or you loved it.

Computer Class - When you could get away with playing on PAINT or playing Minesweeper.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
