Who doesn’t like the sun shining, warm weather, and just enjoying nature? Well I know I enjoy the warm spring weather that has finally, after what felt like years but was only months, has arrived. We are finally able to spend our free time outside adventuring.
Since I have the opportunity to attend school in upstate New York, specifically in the Ithaca area, there is so much nature that I am able to explore alongside my friends. My friends and I are always looking to go to a different waterfall or hiking spot. It is nice to get off campus for a day and see the rest of the area. Hiking in Ithaca and general is one of my favorite things to do because it helps me clear my mind and just be able to take in the sense of the beautiful nature of the world.
Ithaca is commonly known for its most gorgeous waterfalls as well as many famous parks and hiking trails. Although the weather may be very unpredictable no matter what time of year it is the falls and other places always look incredible. In the fall the foliage makes the falls look so nice and in the winter the ice and snow make the falls look beautiful as well. A fun fact is that at some of the falls when the weather is warm enough, you are able to go swimming.
One of the reasons that I was attracted to this school was because of the beauty of the surrounding area. I think my favorite place to go thus far here in Ithaca is the Taughannock Falls. My first time there was this past weekend when the weather was warm. You are able to see the fall from a distance or up close, depending on your preference. There are also many hiking trails in that area that overlook other bodies of water that lead into the fall.
My friend and I decided to see the fall from far away just because of where we enter the area in which it was located in and it was breathtaking. Some may think that I am exaggerating but I am not (see cover photo). The fall looked like it could be featured in a National Geographic Magazine.
The small city of Ithaca, is one of the most beautiful places on earth to go. If you ever have the chance I would recommend coming to Ithaca for a day or two and just exploring the area especially the falls because they are astonishing to see. Not only are there the falls but Cayuga Lake is located a couple miles away which if you didn't know is a part of the Finger Lakes.
Another one of my favorite falls to go to is Buttermilk Falls. It is one of my favorite because there is about a one mile hiking path that is located next to it, so as you are hiking you are right along the fall taking in all the different scenery. To one side you have the fall and then to the other it is just nature; trees, plants, leaves, etc.
In addition to the falls, there are many trails. The other day my friend and I went adventuring to find a new running trail and we were able to find one where we were able to run on a path alongside the lake. It was a nice day out and the weather was fairly warm so running along the lake we got a breeze which was nice. Additionally, it was nice to be able to take in the scenery of the lake, a different scenery than one of the falls or hiking trails.
I would suggest that no matter where you are, it does not have to be Ithaca, but get out an explore the beauty of the nature of the Earth.
