We all know the story.
A new children's tale adaptation beloved enough to stir up a lot of excitement and nostalgia for all generations. From "Maleficent" to magical "Cinderella," live action movies are taking a turn and are coming to life. Now, the wait is over. One of the most popular Disney princesses is coming to the big screen and the teaser trailer does exactly as it sounds -- teases!
Here are 6 things that audiences everywhere are already falling in love with about this retold story. So, get happy about "Beauty and the Beast" and start counting down the days until March 17, 2017.
1. Emma Watson will have the honor to play Disney's first brunette princess, Belle.
This Ivy League scholar, world renowned actress, and influential activist, will now take on the role as Belle, maybe the most innocent of all Disney princesses. The list of words to describe how wonderful she is could go on and on for days, so who else better to be the face of this darling character.
2. Relive the life lesson of the importance of inner beauty.
We learned this one along with Beast, a fact to carry with us every single day. True beauty comes from within; it’s about being kind to others and not only thinking about yourself. We're not sure if Gaston ever really understood.
3. The mysteriousness of the teaser trailer will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The teaser trailer for Disney's upcoming Beauty and the Beast live-action adaptation pulled in more views during its first day than any other film. According to Disney (via The Hollywood Reporter), the teaser pulled in a whopping 91.8 million views during its first 24 hours, eclipsing Star Wars: The Force Awakens' teaser, which was the prior record holder with 88 million views. Everything from the music and sound effects to the sets and location, it is pure magic.
4. The accents are here to stay, my friends.
Who doesn't love a nice foreign accent? It's like sweet music to my ears. Some original characters had slight accents if none at all, but from what it seems, most characters in this film including the Beast and Belle will have accents. Lumiere and Mrs. Potts will not be the only ones!
5. Stanley Tucci will play a new character, Cadenza.
Now that Caesar Flickerman is no more, he must've fell upon this new movie. Variety reported back when Tucci was added to the cast that he’d be playing a grand piano, who is being described as "a neurotic maestro." That sounds like he’ll fit right in alongside the likes of Ewan McGregor, Sir Iran McKellen, Emma Thompson and more!
6. Brand new songs along with the classics, will premiere within the revised love story.
Disney composer Alan Menken, who also scored the 1991 movie, revealed that he and his writing partner Tim Rice have created three new songs for the live-action movie. One of the songs is called "Days in the Sun," and is described as a "lullaby" about all of the castle’s enchanted objects remembering what their lives were like as humans before they were transformed by the curse. Another is one from the Broadway show, "If I Can’t Love Her," musical fans may be familiar with.
The more we learn about this live-action "interpretation" of the 1756 French tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, the more intriguing it’s beginning to sound. As a child, I worshipped the ground any Disney princess walked on and within us all, there is a piece of our hearts that still lies with those characters we learned so much from and once adored.
