The past several months, I have been waiting for the new Beauty and the Beast to hit theaters. First of all, Emma Watson is Belle... and Belle is one of my favorite Disney Princesses. Well, last night the wait was finally over. I finally had the opportunity to see it. To say the absolute least, I was more than thrilled and it was an extremely well-done movie.
The budget for the movie was $160 million (here are the numbers) between the set, the costumes, and all of the exquisite music. The movie has a lot of intricate details placed in the castle: gold looked like it was growing out of the ceiling, the stain glass windows in all of the rooms, the paint, and amazing marble floors. If I would have seen the movie in 3D, I know I would have felt like I was really in the castle.
The singing in the movie was one of my favorite parts. The musicians and singers were a perfect combination and complimented each other. I liked when musical scenes were happening, the instruments did not outpower the voices and how the voices did not overpower the instruments. I also liked in the strong instrumental moments, the music was relatable with the powerful underlying themes found in the storyline of the movie. One of my favorite songs is, Beauty and the Beast by Emma Thompson because it was also in one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie.
Beauty and the Beast ended with the powerful message: every individual has something beautiful found within which defines their own authenticity. This was a concept difficult for me to grasp as a child. I believe it is an important message because people tend to be judgemental or afraid to be themselves. Another lesson that can be drawn from the movie is that people can change if they let themselves grow.
I could go on a rant for much longer about how much I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast, but I will let the details to the viewer. I would highly recommend you go and see Beauty and the Beast no matter how old you are. The movie was so well done that anyone will enjoy the movie.
