I have always had a special love for the Disney classics. My ultimate favorited Disney movies growing up were Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and, of course, Beauty and the Beast. When I first heard that Disney was creating a live action version of Beauty and the Beast, I turned into the biggest kid in the world and my excitement level rose sky high. One of my reasons for favoring the fairy tale so much is the wonderful message behind it. It tells the story of a woman falling in love with a beast not because of his looks, but because of who he was and his personality. The story also falls along the lines of "don't judge a book by its cover".
This past weekend I had the opportunity of going see the live action version of Beaty and the Beast, and I have to say that it lived up to all of my expectations. It was amazing to take a step back into my childhood even for just a moment, and I found that I actually teared up a bit towards the end of the movie, even though I already knew how the story goes. I was so proud of the work that it did and how its cast and crew were able to bring the tale to life. I also thought that the cast was perfectly selected, especially Emma Watson playing the role of Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. They portrayed the characters beautifully and did them justice.
Another thing I'd like to mention (without giving too much of a spoiler) was how that added a few extra things to the story to make it just a little different. This was probably also due to the fact that the length of the original version of the tale is a little shorter than most cinematic movies. It was also just nice to see even the slightest little twist of the story and a little bit of extra background story.
Now I might be a little biased in this review, but oh well. The movie was still fantastic and I would definitely recommend anyone go see it.
