This past weekend, the live action remake of Beauty and the Beast totally smashed it at the box offices. The tale as old as time received a make over, freshening up not only the story line but also the looks of our beloved characters. So, I hope your brushes are ready to do their dance number as I present to you two makeup looks inspired by the new looks of Belle and Mrs. Potts.

Before I start I would like to mention that these looks do not include foundation and concealer steps. I feel as long as you have a fresh dewy look with these two products on your face you are good to go to start these tutorials! I also did a slight contour with a matte bronzer before I started creating these looks as both of them do not have too much contour to the face and are very natural. They just use enough to make sure to show off their cheekbones! Oh and don't forget to moisturize and prime!

Mrs. Potts

The inspired look for Mrs. Potts was taken from this promotional movie poster. In the live action remake, Mrs. Potts played by Emma Thompson has oodles of gold with some purple to make it pop, but not too much.

To begin, I used the LORAC Tails and Top Hats Eye Shadow Palette.

Using my Real Techniques base shadow brush, I used the light, pinky white matte shade all over my lid up to my eyebrows. Next, I used the light and warm peachy toned shadow on the bottom row on the inner half of my eyelid. I applied this shade with my bareMinerals tapered shadow brush. Then, on the outer half of my eyelid, I used the shimmery plum purple and applied it with the same bareMinerals eye shadow brush. Because Mrs. Potts cannot be Mrs. Potts without her purple! Finally, using the same brush, I applied the dark gold brown shade, found in the center of the palette, in the center of my eyelid and used it as more of a transition shade between the two other shadows on my lid.

Mrs. Potts does not wear any eyeliner so the eyes are more defined by the mascara.

So for the mascara, I chose the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara. I find this mascara helps to open up the eyes to make them more like Mrs. Potts and darkens the lashes very nicely. This mascara helps define the eyes tremendously like an eyeliner would do.

For her face, Mrs. Potts has very rosy and bright cheeks so I chose to go for a very naturally glowing product.

I chose the Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Powder in the color Antigua 2. I find with this you can have the cutest and rosiest cheeks just like Mrs. Potts! To apply it, I used my bella j. blush brush then went in the three motion on each side of my face from my temple, taking into my face onto the apples of my cheeks, then back out and to my jaw line. This creates a very glowing and bright look just like Mrs. Potts.

On the poster, Mrs. Potts has highlighter where the light naturally hits to help brighten up her cheery face even more!

To do this, I used my Nars Banc de Sable Highlighting Palette's shade, Rivage (left shade). I applied this to the bridge of my nose, center of my forehead, and the tops of my cheeks using my Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 brush.

Finally, for the lip shade, Mrs. Potts wears a pinky nude shade.

The lipstick I reached for to imitate this look is the Too Faced lipstick in the shade Sugar Daddy. I find it a very natural pink but with enough shimmer that it would have Mrs. Potts approval!

This is the final look I designed on my face! I hope it inspires you to drink lots of tea while singing a tune as old as song!

Belle

This movie poster is what inspired me to make the Belle makeup look. Belle, played by Emma Watson, is shown here with a very, very natural makeup look, highlighting her facial features.

Starting out, I opted for a cream shadow in place of an eye primer.

The cream shadow I used was the Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow in the color Nude Beach. I applied this with my finger all over my lid. This helps make the shadows stand out even more with a slight shimmer to it.

The palette I used for the rest of the eye shadow is the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette (tip: use lots of fluffy brushes with this look, they pack the shadows on really well and blend them out nicely too!). First, using my Real Techniques base shadow brush, I applied Tempera all over my brow bone. Next, through my crease I used the shade Warm Taupe. I first went through my crease with this shade using the side of the brush that came with the palette that is less fluffy. Then, I blended it using my Real Techniques deluxe crease brush. Next, using my bella j. eye shadow brush, I applied the color Vermeer on the inner third of my eyelid. After this, I applied the color Primavera to the outer third of my eyelid using the same brush. Finally, for the center of my eye, I used the shade Golden Ochre and applied it with the same brush. To me, this shade helps divide the shimmering of the other two shades and blends them well together. It also is a more matte version of Primavera.

Now for eyeliner, Belle has a very, very light winged out look.

To do this, I used my Bobbi Brown Gel Eye Liner Pot in the Color Cyprus Ink. Since the liner in the poster is not black and more grayish, I opted for this color. Emma Watson's eyes very much pop from the shade of eyeliner used without any glitter or shimmer effect, so I went for a shade in my collection that helps bring out the greenish brown within the eyes. I very lightly applied the eyeliner using my Real Techniques eyeliner brush. Then, I blended the color out to fade it using my Real Techniques accent brush.

Belle's lashes are very fluttery and natural looking.

So, I reached for my favorite mascara, Urban Decay's Perversion Mascara. The brush on this mascara helps make your eyelashes flutter out and give a more natural look and make the eyes appear to be smiling (maybe she was looking at Dan Stevens aka her Beast).

Belle has a tiny bit of pink in her cheeks along with a little bit of shimmer.

Using the blush brush that came with the LORAC Cue the Confetti Highlight and Blush Palette, I mixed together the color Tinge and the highlighter Spotlight. I then applied this to the apples of my cheeks to give a slight color and shine to them. Then, I applied just Spotlight to the center of my forehead and a little on my chin. Finally, with my index finger, I applied the highlighter to my cupid's bow as it is very prominent in the poster.

One of Emma Watson's more pronounced features on her face are her eyebrows. They are a natural shape and are a clear feature of this look.

To make my eyebrows look similar, I used my Tanya Burr Cosmetics Perfect Brows Kit and mixed the shades Chestnut and Hot Cocoa. Then, using my Real Techniques brow brush, I naturally shaped my brows as I have more of an arch and filled in my brows.

Belle's lips are also very natural looking, as the shade of lipstick appears to be the same as the natural color of Emma Watson's lips.

The lipstick I chose to twin with Emma Watson is the Clinque Almost Lipstick in the shade Pink Honey. I find this matches my lip color perfectly and still gives it a moisturizing look, just like Belle!

And this is the final look! Just try it! You'll be the Belle of the Ball as well!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
