Soccer is on the rise in America and it's about damn time. You might call me biased, you might argue that I'm being unfair, you might even say that I'm flat out lying. Say whatever you'd like, but I'll declare the same thing every day of the week: Soccer is the greatest game on planet Earth.

There are a few reasons why I love soccer, and personally I think they're fairly persuasive. Every year, the sport and it's various competitions captures the hearts of billions of fans around the world. Blood, sweat, and tears are poured into every shot, save, and tackle. Fans and players experience the highest highs and the lowest lows as they fall in and out of the spotlight.

Here are a few tips on how to truly appreciate The Beautiful Game:

1. First and foremost, you gotta find guys like this...

Mexican National Team Head Coach: Miguel Herrera

It's called passion. I don't care if you've never played a sport in your life, it's a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

2. Sometimes, it's more about the skills than the goals.

Neymar Jr. (Brazil National Team/FC Barcelona)

Tobin Heath (USWNT/Portland Thorns FC/The love of my life) *this piece of brillance ended with a goal*

The finesse and skill involved in the game are mind boggling if you pay close enough attention.

3. But sometimes, it is about the goals.

Carli Lloyd (USWNT/Houston Dash)

Steve Sidwell (Stoke City F.C.)

I triple dog dare you to say that you don't find this exciting.

4. But, then again, sometimes it's about a little bit of everything.

Lionel Messi (Argentina National Team/FC Barcelona)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden National Team/Paris Saint-Germain F.C.)

Pure magic from beginning to end.

5. Soccer is filled with drama queens, which can get annoying. But it can also be hilarious at the same time.

Hey, you gotta do whatever it takes, right?

Watching a soccer game is like watching an artist paint a picture. Every movement is filled with creative influence, and the vision can change in an instant. There is a fluidity about the game that is so captivating, and once you learn how to truly appreciate it, you're hooked and it's impossible to escape its adrenaline fueled grasp. Lace up your boots, grab a ball, and take a stab at the sport that has taken the world by storm for centuries.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
