The time is finally here- it seems like life is just starting to pick up again. The warm weather is here, spring break is either ending or beginning, and every student's brain is going into summer mode. The more the temperature rises, the harder it gets, at least for me personally, to focus on what I came to college for: my classes. Spring fever is something that is very much an issue for students all over (unless you go to a college that is cold). This phenomenon leaves students itching to be outside at all times, and reluctant to go inside and sit in a classroom all day. How can you blame them, when they have made it through an entire winter.
I have just recently come back from spring break, and my spring fever is at an all time high. Right before break started, it seemed as though I could not wait to get away from school and relax in the sun. After a quick week of no responsibility and relaxation, I was back to school before I knew it. Luckily, going to school in North Carolina means that the weather is warmer earlier, and I came back to beautiful spring weather. While this is a blessing, and definitely makes coming back from Florida easier, it is no good for my motivation to go back to classes. All I want to do is be outside all the time, and continue being in " spring break mode". Getting back to reality is a lot harder than it should be.
Luckily, I have navigated my way to slowly getting myself out of spring break mode. For starters, it is important to get yourself back into a routine. Over breaks, a lot of people, myself included, tend to sleep in way later than they do at school. It is very easy to do, as there are really no commitments that you have for the day, other than relaxing. However, this can be bad for our body clocks, because it becomes harder for our bodies to wake up early again. The first few days of going back to school may be tiring, but it is worth it for your body to get back on a proper sleeping schedule. That being said, it is important to make sure you get a proper amount of sleep, and do not go to bed too late. Additionally, it is important to attend class, no matter how badly you want to spend the time outside. I have found that doing work outside after a full day of classes is very rewarding, and makes doing homework less painful.
The summer will be here before we know it, but it is important to not let the sight of the light at the end of the tunnel distract us from the present. Keep working hard, stay focused, and take care of yourself, and the term will be finished off in the best way possible.
