I know I wrote an article way back about why being cold is better than being hot, and that still stands true, but I can't lie, I love the beach. I've been going to the beach every summer with my family for as long as I can remember. We started out going to Ocean City, Maryland until just a couple years ago, and now we rent a little house a block from the beach in Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
Now I know the beach isn't for everyone, and the sand can definitely get annoying, but I'd take going to the beach over sitting by the pool any day.
The beach just offers so much more than a pool ever could. You can watch the sunset over the water, seeing the red sun dipping into the sea below the horizon. You can go snorkeling, parasailing, and surfing, or you can just sit there, relax, read a book, listen to some music while listening to the waves crash and the seagulls squawk.
I also love the beach because it's something I can do with my friends. We all pile into one or two cars and make the trip down to the beach, the windows all the way down and the music cranked up. We sit on the beach just talking and joking around, then go in the water where we act like fools and try and drown each other. They're such great memories that I know I'll appreciate for a long time.
The beach is way better than sitting by the pool, and nothing will change my mind about that.
