These days you can’t swipe down on your Facebook, or any other social media site without encountering the words “feminist,” “oppression,” or something that is anti-masculine, or somewhere along those lines. In season 2 we encounter this book called, “Be Your Own Windkeeper,” a seemingly feminist book, about how women allow men to take away their “wind,” and essentially their identity and being, based on the context it was used in.
I think it is my responsibility to inform you that your wind remains in your domain, and it is up to you to control it. I have been in a relationship with my fiancé for a substantial amount of time now, and my lightning bearer hasn’t stolen a milliliter of my goddess wind. The book, “Be Your Own Windkeeper” is a fictional book from the beloved TV show, loosely based on the 2014 book, Bad Feminist, by Roxane Gay. The book is a collection of essays, in the form of political discussion, critical banter, and feminist agenda.
I am a cunning connoisseur of stuffed bears, a gullible girl that falls victim to the enticing trends of manicures and facial masks, and a dedicated disciple of the colors; red, pink, and purple. Despite that, I would call myself a postmodern feminist. I don’t want to be associated with this third/fourth wave of feminism that essentially hates on the entire male gender and talks about how much females suffer due to their behavior. Referring to a specific gender as a collective to assign blame to various problems will not solve these issues.
I think that men should be given more credit in terms of their contribution to society, without being thought of as demeaning to women. Both genders have given society a cornucopia of memorable milestones in this and other lifetimes. There is no such thing as the wage cap, male counterparts make just as much as their female counterparts if they have equal amounts of experience, education, and other professional credentials that are deemed valuable by a company. There is no such thing as female oppression in this current day. When the 19th amendment was established, the feminist movement for suffrage, to allow women (well all people regardless of their gender), to vote was a hallmark event involving feminism that I appreciate. I am all for equality, however, in my opinion, it has been achieved, and women are thriving more than ever. Look at other countries and see how much better off we are.
I am all for protests, public displays of peaceful political upset, and other forms of governmental abhorrence. However, stooping to the level of condescending a gender; as a collective is the imaginary dotted line drawn in the sand that is unethical, and something I refer to as pathetic. We need to take accountability for our own problems and do what we can do to solve them, instead of assigning blame to others. Be your own windkeeper, and make sure that you blow it in the right direction.
