Be Your Own Leader

When we were younger, what was considered normal? Being like everyone else. Till this day, normal was just blending in with what everyone else does. What we find abnormal is being different or in other words, marching to the beat of your own drum. At what point were we taught that being normal was blending in with everyone around you. How long does it take us to become our own and not be so worried to not be different, but to be ourselves? It takes so many people a lifetime to finally be themselves and not care about what other people thing. One of my moments where I did something a little different from people around me was when I decided to take some time off after I graduated high school. At first I was so nervous to tell anyone because I was afraid of what they were going to think, but as time went on I told myself, everyone is different and people take different paths in their lives and that's okay. I can do my thing and people can do theirs and that's the beauty of the world, how different everyone is and how many different perspectives we have of the world. Its not meant to be alarming, it's suppose to be a wonderful and amazing thing. What makes this world so complex is all the different personalities we have around us. Do you think things and life would be so dull and boring if everyone was the same? It would be like living in a black and white world, no color or life to it. All the different cultures and people are what make this world so interesting and such a beautiful place to be. If we all took time to except people how they are and embrace difference, this world would be a happier place.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
