Be True To Your School

College is normally thought of as a time for furthering education, tons of homework and learning to connect to the professional world. Although that is all true, it shouldn't be thought of in a negative way, the way most people perceive college life. So let's rephrase and add some stuff to the initial impression of college. College is a time for expanding your knowledge (which motivates you to do the homework), creating lasting friendships, find the job that's right for you, being involved in campus life and learning more about yourself and your talents than you ever thought possible! So be involved at your school; get to know your school, fellow students and teachers!

Have school spirit! I have really taken a liking to The Beach Boys' song Be True to Your School since starting my freshman year of college, which inspired the title of this article. Go to the football games, be involved in a social club and take advantage of cheesy activities. Those will really help you connect to your school and especially other students.

Be proud of your school! Put your school name on all your social media sites, tell your friends at home they're missing out on a fun opportunity and take goofy pictures with everyone (yes, even attempt to photo-bomb others' pictures)! Put the school's logo on the back of your car and a pennant on the wall in your room. Show off your college; it'll do your heart good to know you're blessed to be a part of a college family!

Never give up! College will have it's rough patches, like everything else does, but stick with it. Remember why you started in the first place. Imagine yourself 10 years from now. Will you be happy you persevered through college and graduated? Or would it have been a mistake to quit?

College is such a great opportunity, if one uses it wisely. Study hard, meet new people, but most importantly have fun!

"So be true to your school now.
Just like you would to your girl or guy.
Be true to your school now.
And let your colors fly.
Be true to your school
."

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
