It's happened to everyone, you're in a good mood so you smile and say hi to every stranger that you see. But every once in a while you will cross paths with a not so happy stranger who looks at you with the strongest anti-smile face you've seen to date. Some days you aren't having the best day and it seems that everything that could go wrong, does. Those are the days that the smiles you get back matter more than anything.
As I get older and meet new people I'm learning that people are not always what they seem on the surface. They may seem to have it all together on the outside, but are crumbling on the inside. While others might look mean and miserable, but they actually just had a bad morning. There is no way to tell what a person is feeling on the inside based on the face that they display. That to me itself speaks so loudly. There are friends that you believe you share everything with, and they could be battling something on the inside but they put up a successful front so no one knows what they are dealing with. Some people might have family problems, or others struggle with inner demons that don't give way but with the smile they put on, no one can even second guess their happiness.
A person could have spent their entire morning crying and struggling to get out of bed. They might be questioning a lot of things that are going on in their life. Everything seems to keep pulling them under. One smile can make a world of difference. That smile could be the single ray of sunshine shining through their thunderstorm. It could be the only "Hello" they will get that day. Smiling at someone changes the world, not the entire world, but that individuals world.
Everyone is fighting a battle. But not everyone has someone there to pick them back up and to bring a smile to their face. Be that person that smiles at strangers. Be the one that shows that act of love and gives someone the push they need to get through their day. Smile because you have a magic inside of you that can set a spark of happiness inside of others.
