Be Thankful and Not Only In November

November is known as a time of the year to be thankful. Why we wait until the eleventh month of the year to say the things or people were thankful for still astonishes me. So here is something to be thankful for each month.

January: Christmas time is over but you have the stragglers who have no excepted that it is time to take down the tree they spent the whole day decorating, or the lights they almost fell off the roof for. These are the type of people to be thankful or, they keep our inner child spirit alive.

February: Love is in the air for this month, take the time to be thankful your special someone or even just a person who you care about deeply. For instance, a dog or a best friend. I would highly recommend a dog, their so easy to love. Don't just be thankful for the person but be thankful for the having the ability to love.

March: For all of the basketball lovers out there you all have heard of March Madness. Now I am not saying be thankful for that specific event that many Americans spend hours and hours on picking their imaginary team and loosing hundreds of dollars in bets for. Instead be thankful that you have the money to put in the pool and be thankful for the device you get to watch the game of. Be thankful that you get the luxury of all these components.

April: April is the time of year we do not have to get up extra early to start our cars because the weather is starting to warm up. Be thankful that the cold weather is leaving and you are alive and well to get to enjoy the beautiful weather coming.

May: May for all seniors is the time of year that is the scariest but the best time of their lives. This is the time where some step up and go to college to better themselves. Be thankful for the younger generations wanting to go and get their degree to better our world and be part of the working class of our society.

June: This would be the highlight of the year for bees. Most try to kill them or run away from them which we shouldn't be doing. We should be thankful that they are on our earth pollenating and keeping us alive. They are a key aspect to our world surviving.

July: Of course, everyone knows what they should be thankful for this month. The independence of our country. And be thankful for all the men and woman who sacrifice their lives for us every single day. Be thankful for the heroes of the country.

August: A lot of kids dread this time of year but once you grow up a little you realize that this time of the year changed your life. Schools starts and you get to better your education. Our government pays for us to better our lives when in a lot of other countries that is not the case.

September: September will always go out to eh first call responders for the tragic event of 9/11. Be thankful for people who helped all the survivors get out. Be thankful that people did survive that event.

October: This is the time of the year where people get to dress up and get free candy. The best part of this month is figuring out what you want to be. Be thankful that there still is imagination in our world and that people can still have free spirits.

November: Of course, be thankful for the family and friends who get together to have an amazing meal. No matter what, this month brings people together if when their miles away or haven’t spoken in years.

December: This is also a month to be thankful for family and friends that you get to spend time with. But look more in depth to that, everyone holiday spirits around this time of month. They are genially happy and that doesn’t happen much through the rest of the year.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
