Be still and know that I am God

Sometimes I think one of the hardest things we can do is simply be still. One of my favorite bible verses reads "Be still and know that I am God." I often times catch myself getting so caught up that it can simply be hard to just be still, take a deep breath and realize that life is to short to spend every second just running the race to the timeline of our day to day activities.

But there is several things God wants you to realize...

1. Relax, God's got this...Often times when I get caught up in my day to day routine its hard to remember this. Human nature is an "I can do it myself" mentality. I catch myself thinking this day in and day out. But when I do and I allow myself to try and do it on my own, it never works out. I catch myself getting frustrated and why is this? I didn't let God take control. In the book of Exodus it reads, "The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still." This verse really spoke to me because its so much less work if you will simply let God take control. But first you have to overcome your human instinct, which is to do it yourself.

2. Don't worry...In the book of Isaiah it reads "Fear not, for I am with you, I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.

3. Prayer is the answer...In the book of Phillipians it reads, "Do not be anxious about anything instead pray about EVERYTHING." Prayer helps to resolve the anxieties of life, that is why God created prayer, its a direct hotline to your heavenly father when you are in need of help.

Life isn't easy, and God didn't create it to be, but one thing he did promise is that if we suffer for what is right we will be blessed. So the next time you catch yourself getting caught up in the craziness if this life, take a peak at these three promises, and just "Be still."

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
