It's a basic human desire to live forever. We have all thought of the possibility of immortality one way or another. It's concept is the very backbone of many plots of movies, TV shows, and books! The myths of immortality might tell you a trip to the Fountain of Youth or a flight to Neverland is needed to live forever, but those aren't your only options. You can be immortal now and spare yourself from tracking down a Time Lord (although that would be pretty awesome).
Being immortal is not always a literal "live forever and never age" concept. Although if you ever find a way to legit live forever, please call me. For this world, however, it's more of how your name and memory lives on then your physical self.
Get you're name known
I was once told it's not who you know, but who knows you. To be immortal, you have to make sure everyone knows your name (in a good way of course). Once people know you exist, there's no going back. Try to meet as many possible people as you can-friends of friends, family of friends, faculty, co-workers etc.. Set a standard for yourself on how you present yourself and really bring out your personality. Let people know the real you! You'll be pretty relieved when someone randomly comes up to you and says " Oh you're (name), right? My friend was just telling about you!", and they mean it in a good way.
Actions speak louder than words
It's not enough to just let people here your name, you gotta have actions to tie to the name! Start by creating a good reputation for yourself. Don't be that one person who's known as the "party guy" in a bad way. That's not something that's going to help you get a job.You want to present yourself as someone who deserves to be heard of and talked about. Set some goals for yourself on how you want people to see you as. If you don't want people to judge you, underestimate you, or stereotype you, DON"T GIVE THEM A REASON TO.
Make memories
When I was in high school, I was determined not to just be that one girl in the student photos. I wanted people to see my picture, know my face, and know my name. How did I do this? Well first off, I was a camera hog. No matter who was taking the picture or where, I found a way to get myself in there. Whether is was photobombing or just me having fun with some friends, I was in my yearbooks plenty of times-and for a good reason! Second, I made sure I was involved. I was a part of clubs, activities, plays-you name it! Some of the best times I had were events that I was a part of. Not only does it create memories for you, but of you. What better way to be immortal then to come up in family dinner conversations as the person who had good quality fun!
Leave a legacy
Are you a painter? Paint! Are your a writer? Publish! Are you tech savvy? Build a robot! Basically, you want to leave something behind that has your signature on it. It can be as simple as leaving some hidden encouraging notes in high school lockers, earning an award, or helping paint a mural in the hallway. You want to be able to leave a part of you behind when you finally move on, so in a way, you're not really gone at all. Who knows, you could one day be an addition in a history book. What better way to live on then that?! And don't think it's impossible, because it's not. I'm pretty sure Mark Zuckerberg didn't think that he would one day be one of the richest people out there with his name plastered everywhere. All he was doing, was doing what he loved. You neva' know! By some chance, you could leave one for the greatest legacies this generation has ever seen.
Ps: If you want to be super, super fun, burry a time capsule in your backyard. Imagine in year 5000 someone digs up your old selfies.
So next time there's a school trip, or you have an oppurtinity to meet new people- please take the opportunity! You'll never know who might hear your name and open a door to the chance of a life time.
