With everything going on in the world these days, it can be difficult to feel grateful. Our country is divided, so many terrible events have happened, and too many unwarranted deaths have occurred. However, it is imperative that not only this nation but this entire world comes together for a common cause. Whether that be love, peace, equality, the environment, etc., what this world needs is togetherness. And I believe true togetherness begins with thankfulness. It is so easy to forget all the little blessings we experience every day. And it is even easier to let our first world problems get the best of us. Therefore, I have composed this poem to remind us that things could definitely be worse, and that every day we should try to be consciously thankful.
Be Ever Thankful
Whenever you're down
Even if life is dreary
Whenever you wear a frown
Even if you're feeling weary
Be ever thankful
Whenever you're crying
Even if it's in vain
Whenever someone's dying
Even if you're in pain
Be ever thankful
Whenever you're ill
Even if life gets rough
Whenever you're unfulfilled
Even if you've had enough
Be ever thankful
Because someone out there
Somewhere in this world
Isn't getting their fair share
And their life has come unfurled
Someone out there
I don't quite know who
Has nothing to wear
And no job to do
So be ever thankful
Remember life is a present
Be ever thankful
To the highest extent
