Top 10 Reasons Why Your Next Vacation Should Be In Costa Rica

1. They have pictures of sloths on their money.

You thought I was kidding! This is for sure the number one reason for why you should visit Costa Rica immediately. Sloths rock, man.

2. You can zip-line over a rainforest.

This is the perfect way to experience a new place. Costa Rica is the home of the longest zip-line in Latin America as well. There are many places to do this: some long, some short, some high, some low. It is usually very inexpensive but the memories are priceless.

3. Volcanoes and mountains.

Yes, the volcanoes are active. No, they will not kill you. And what comes along with volcanoes? You guessed it: hot springs. Some of the most beautiful scenery is found overlooking the mountains.

4. Beautiful beaches.

With over a thousand miles of coastline, Costa Rica is the place for those needing a relaxing break. However, these beaches are for more than just relaxing. Many people rate Costa Rica in the top three places to surf in the world. With warm water and huge waves year-round, these beaches (both Caribbean and Pacific sides) are filled with surfers. And if you have never surfed before? Take a short, inexpensive class on the beach!

5. The wildlife.

Once you get away from the city, Costa Rica offers many cool and extraneous animals that are not found in many places: monkeys, sloths, tree frogs, geckos, iguanas, crocodiles, large tortoises and over 812 recorded bird species.

6. It's the perfect adventure.

All in a driving distance from wherever you are staying, you can zip-line, skydive, bungee jump, white water raft, backpack, hike, scuba dive, kayak, cliff jump, or create your own adventure. Any type of adrenaline rush is found right here in Costa Rica.

7. Eco-tourism.

Over a quarter of the country is owned by the government and is reserved and protected. Costa Rica is not very accustomed to drug trafficking or heavy crime. What makes it great for tourism is the fact that Costa Ricans go out of their way to make the country clean. Recycling bins are found almost everywhere, the government supports going green everywhere, and they plan to become the first carbon neutral country by 2021.

8. Happiness.

Inhabited by tons of patriots, Costa Rica is voted the happiest country in the world by multiple sources. Quite frankly, even the tourists are happy because Costa Ricans are great at making tourists feel welcomed. Since the removal of their military in 1948, most of the tax money goes to education. In terms of crime and corruption, they also are known for being one of the safest countries in Central America. Supporting them is the right decision.

9. The Food.

Like every country, Costa Rica has a food of its own. Along with every dish (chicken, beef, tacos, etc.), you eat Gallo Pinto (rice and beans). You are also destined to have multiple cups of coffee a day since that is what Costa Rica does best (debatably). They also are a mass producer of bananas, chocolate, and tropical fruit.

10. Pura Vida.

The term "Pura Vida" is a Costa Rican saying that literally means "Pure Life." It's a greeting term, a farewell term, a response to "How are you?", and probably the most-used saying in the country. It also symbolizes the way of life in Costa Rica. Everything is laid back because having a good life is more important than stressing out about every little thing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
