1. Hella/Hecka

Let's get this one out of the way. Hella means a lot. This has to be the number one saying you will for sure here if you find yourself in the Bay Area!

"Hecka cool"

"How much? Hella!"

2. Dude


It doesn't matter the gender. If you're excited about something or trying to get someones attention "dude" is the go to.

"Dude! I gotta tell you something!"

"Dude come here!"

3. Yeet/Yee

To be excited about something or another word for "yes".

"Ready for the party tonight?"

"Yeet!"

4. Fo Sho

For sure, definitely, or absolutely!

Hey, man, can you help me out with something?"

"Oh, fo sho!"

5. Lightweight

No this is not always in reference to someone who gets drunk fast. It means a little or kind of.

"I lightweight like it"

6. Giggin

To get dumb on the dance floor or really getting into those dance moves.

"Aye, he's giggin!"

7. Gnarly

Probably more used for those who are always near the coast but gnarly can be used for other things off the surfboard. It means sick or cool.

"Oh that was gnarly"

8. Trippin

You're freaking out. You got it all wrong.

"You're trippin man."

9. Aye

Ayyyye! This one is used a lot! Usually used when someone or a group of people is excited. Used all the time at clubs or dances when a great song comes on too. Aye can be used for really anything!

"Aye! Let's go!"

10. Raw

Not coordinated to uncooked food. Raw is another word for cool or dope.

"That's raw!"

11. Hype/Hyphy

Hype or hyphy is also like giggin. It refers to dancing or a dance style too. It can also mean something being fun or exciting.

"Everyone is getting super hyphy."

"It's hype!"

11. Saucy

This means to play it smooth and maybe a little sarcastic hence the spice. Can also mean something is cool.

"That was saucy!"

12. I see you

Usually used when someone impresses someone else.

"Woah I see you!"
