Sadness and grief are two relatively strong and disabling emotions. Sometimes we grieve over lost family or friends, and other times it may be over lost dreams or opportunities.

No matter the cause, we should never elect to chastise another individual for their grief, sorrow, or sadness. Just as each of us are different in personality, each of us are also different in emotion.

Although in the midst of sorrowful circumstances it may be easy to reach out to others for help, our only true source of strength at the end of the day is Jesus Christ. Our only friend that can stay with us and comfort us endlessly us Jesus Christ.

Why, then, do I- or so many of us- continue to search for humanly love and affection and attention? We know we cannot find it in people, but still trick ourselves into believing we will. This only leads to us getting hurt further, and deepening the trench of sadness we’re already burrowed in.

It’s a testament of faith when we seek Christ and Christ alone for our true comfort. It’s a testament of faith when we trust in Him to provide the healing to our hearts and minds that we so desperately need. Seeking out human comfort in blatant disregard to His offerings is similar to turning our backs on Him and turning to a golden statue: Offensive, foolish, and a waste of time.

Point being, our true comfort can only come from Christ. No person, no thing will be there forever. Even the best of friends have to rest, eat, or live their own life, not to say that they’re bad- but that they’re subject to the same human frailty we are.

Seek God in what you do, every day when you wake, every night when you sleep. Seek Him in your goals, dreams, and desires. Seek Him in your service to others. Seek Him where He may be found: in His Holy Word.

When you’re broken, ask God for comfort and healing.

When you’re lost, ask God for wisdom and the right way back.

When you’re at the end of everything you know, ask God for the answers.

Be patient. Don’t give up your trust in Him. You’ve made it this far, and I’ll tell you a secret: none of us could have without His grace and provision.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
