Change is good ... well sometimes. Instagram and Snapchat have declared war. The new Instagram feature is basically Snapchat and Snapchat is basically Instagram. You can upload photos from the last 24 hours to your story, but by the next day it is erased. A feature that everyone from our generation loves: the act of deleting and erasing something after it has already been posted.
Originally, Snapchat was to update videos and pictures of your day to day life events and Instagram was to post your favorite pictures. In early July, Snapchat released the Memories filter. This allowed people to save pictures and videos to their camera roll that would permanently stick. Snapchat thought they had one up on Instagram with this one until Instagram released Stories. Stories is the same concept as a snapchat story, though some say it is a lot easier to navigate through.
"I think it is a lot easier to use, but I do not think people will actually replace this with Snapchat considering the first day it was released everyone used it to post their Snapchat name," said Jessica Kaminsky.
This Stories feature is a great release for older generations to use because Snapchat is confusing. Between all of the tapping and swiping up and down, side to side. Whether it is sending direct messages, photos and videos or adding photos and videos for everyone to see there is so much to do with Snapchat. Instagram has even more features now but it is easier to do each one of these things.
At the end of the day, Snapchat and Instagram users love them for their original sole purposes. It was only time before they began to compete more aggressively with one another. We love them both and they entertainment we get from each of these apps.
