Battle of the Babies: North West Vs. Blue Ivy

Who's the real MVP?

Battle of the Babies: North West Vs. Blue Ivy

Who could be more famous than these four? Only their offspring, of course. Yes, with the help of our good friend social media we've been able to stalk and follow the births and first years of these two stars: North West and Blue Ivy. But have we really inherited our next American icon? That's a question only our 'Battle of the Babies' can reveal.

This showdown will consist of three separate rounds, including only the elements of utmost importance: sass, style and smile. Unfortunately we will be lacking in the personality department since these two kiddos have yet to acquire a sustainable vocabulary. Shall we begin?

Round one: sass.

It's safe to say our booty-poppin' Bey and sass-a-frass Kim K passed their attitudes on to their infants. As noted in the pictures above, both North and Blue have mastered the IDFWY hand pose. When we look to the left we can see that North continues her sass from the eye roll, to her hand gesture, all the way down to her personally designed Charlotte Olympia kitten flats. #Casual. On the right, we can see that Blue mimics the same 'tude from her untamable fro all the way to her chain.

Verdict? North takes the cake. The addition of the side eye is gold, sorry Beyhive.

Round two: style.

What else was passed down from the 'rents? Their inherent style. The top rows give us a bit of insight to their usual formal attire, and the bottom shows the babies representing their family brand.

Let's further examine their formal looks. On the left, baby Blue is supporting her mama on stage at the MTV VMAs dressed in a precious gold gown, accessorized with a sequined bow. On the right, North matches her mom's sheer black lace gown for the Givenchy Runway Show.

The bottom left shows North supporting Kanye by wearing her 'Yeezus' tour tee, complete with a leather skirt. On the right, Blue reps for Beyonce's Miss Carter tour, wearing her personalized leather jacket.

Verdict: Blue wins.

Although I'm a sucker for most of Kim's outfits, matching her baby's outfit to hers is just a no-no. Blue is successful in looking cute, and she also embraces being a three year old.

Round three: smile.

Last but not least -- the smile round! What better way to judge a baby's cuteness than by their chubby cheeked smile?

At the top we have North's full faced smile and the bottom shows off Blue's grin.

Verdict: It's a tie.

Unfortunately, the cuteness levels are too similar to make a definite call.

Sorry, Kanye, we can't have a true baby winner, but we can bend the rules to create an MVP.

In review, North is a bit too extreme with her outfits. With her sheer gowns and constant leather she is always drawing a lot of attention (like mother like daughter, I assume). Additionally, rumor has it that Anna Wintour is working to ban babies from Fashion Week shows due to North's bad behavior.

Therefore, the real MVP is Blue Ivy.

Blue, on the other hand, has a better handle on being a baby. She does not attend Fashion Week shows, and dresses in more appropriate toddler clothing. Not to mention her parents are Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
