Batman the telltale series just keeps getting better, especially with its latest entry. We get to see the fallout from the events of the previous episode and Bruce Wayne's life begins to unravel. Depending on who the player chose to save in episode two determines what kind of face Harvey Dent has. If you let penguin smash him with the light, he will look like the two face we all know. If you saved him like I did he's just a little bruised. Regardless how his face looks, Harvey starts his path to madness this episode. Dent has become Mayor and quickly starts to lose his mind right from the start of the episode. Like every episode, I couldn't put the controller down this has been such a unique take on batman. Considering how much batman content I've consumed since 2008 it's really surprising how original this story feels. Telltale has given familiar characters fresh takes and this game has basically been a satisfying tv show so far.
Things couldn't get much worse for Bruce Wayne by the end of the episode. His company votes for him to step down as CEO because of all the controversy surrounding his parents. Making things worse penguin gets appointed as the new leader of Wayne Enterprises. We also find out more of the children of Arkham's plans which involves producing mass amounts of a drug that makes people go insane. Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle's relationship also grows in this episode. This time she got batman out of trouble. By the end of the episode, I was completely shocked by the twist--Vicky Vale being the leader of the children of Arkham. She was the last person I ever expected to be involved with them. This goes back to what I mean about telltale's unique take on familiar characters. I'm not sure if anyone has ever made Vicky Vale a villain before, the episode ends with her drugging Bruce making him about to attack penguin in front of the media. The tough is having to wait between episodes, I could binge this like a Netflix show.
Gameplay remains the same with detective work and quick time events for combat. My only criticism of the episode involves the decision the at the end of episode two. Which goes back to how Harvey Dent's face looks. Regardless of the decision, you make the outcome remains the same. It seemed that the choice should have meant more regarding character behavior. Dent's actions are identical whether you let his face get smashed or not. That's a minor complaint, though, I have no problem with just playing a great tv show.
