I have not touched a basketball much since 8th grade when I was on my middle school's basketball team and a rec team.
It seems rather odd due to the fact that up until high school basketball was a really big part of my life. I played every winter and making the school team was one of my biggest accomplishments at the time. During the summer I went to the Hartford Hawks Basketball Camp and it was my dream to play on their team one day.

I remember being able to run up and down a court for what felt like forever and not having a soar muscle afterward, making three-point shots, and boxing people out of the paint no problem. Today, however, I am rather sore after playing a few rounds of basketball with my friends. I know its just the muscles waking up after being forgotten for so long. I have rediscovered plenty of muscles in the last few hours alone.

Playing again, especially with one of my old team-mates started me on trying to figure off why I stopped in the first place. There were no recreational leagues in town for anyone older than about 14. I could have tried out for the high school team, but there was the fear of the time commitment or playing the bench. If I am going to play a sport, I want to actively participate, hence my stint on JV Softball for three years.

Now that I am going to UMaine there are plenty of opportunities to get back to basketball thanks to the intramural sports leagues, I just need to take advantage of them in my free-time. Seeing as this upcoming semester is somewhat light in the number of courses I have to take it's likely I'll be shooting hoops a little more often.
