"Basic": The North vs. South

We are all bunched into one group but we can't all be the same.

"Basic": The North vs. South

Fall is the time of year where your average "basic" girl can truly let her flannel flag fly! And why shouldn't we? Ask any girl why she chooses to dress the way they dress: it's comfortable. Ask any basic girl (because we no longer need the quotations) why she chooses to dress the way they dress: it's comfortable, simple, easy, oh - and its comfortable!

There are, however, a few varieties of your basic b*tch. Neither is wrong but when identifying your basic you want to know your way around a flannel, leggings and brown boots, short or high.

This all boils down to your regions. Just as you can't get good BBQ in the north, you also can't go full layered basic down south. For this study we're going to have to stick to the basics (pun intended) and unfortunately try to not be too technical with the west coast and other subcultures around the United States or even go by going international.

Bottom half

South: "Ummmm.... Are you wearing pants?" is not a crazy question. Nike shorts, or "nort's", are a common pairing with the latest event shirt. Size: XXXL.

North: Leggings, fuzzy leggings, wool leggings - they know what they need. They know where to get them too. "But don't you dare look at my butt." - Iliza Schlezinger.

Shoes

South: Chacos - the ugly shoe that is now cool for class, hiking, brunch, shopping. Really anytime you may need to get up and go.

North: Where the croc is slowly making a comeback kid movement. Although northerners have to have a wider range of shoes it is really just any excuse to shoe shop.

Hair & makeup

South: Southern belles have perfected the art of hair and makeup before any of us even stepped into our first Sephora. The whole fancy face-comfy clothes look is perfected in diapers.

North: Priority is key is any outfit pick. Up north the temperature and time is usually. Any way to make the hair clean and cute with

Top half

South: Oversiezed t-shirts is the name of the game here. Country girl, college girl, city girl.

North: The northern girls have mastered the art of finding the basic tee, basic sweater or basic whatever really. They can find the items in the store that can match with just about anything else.

Where we overlap

There is something about 2016, the Internet and this era of basic that has brought together the likes of style. Although at times it may alter - like the extreme boho phase that took over last summer - we can always tell who has the look down.

We cannot leave here without naming some of the classic brands that have inspired us all. North Face, Lilly Pulitzer, Patagonia, Kendra Scott, Jack Rogers, Barbour, Francesca's, Bean Boots, Sperry's, Longchamp - heck, even Starbucks and iPhone's could be on this list! The art though, is how they are pieced together in one outfit.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
