  • 1. If it occurs in the microwave, then shut the door and turn off the switch immediately. You can keep a fire extinguisher at home. If it is minor, then use a fire extinguisher or else call fire service,
  • 2. If it happens in the pan, you can cover the pan with the lid. Or else pour baking soda over the flame to minimize the fire. Avoid using water,
  • 3. In the case of electrical fires, it is better to use a fire extinguisher instead of water.

Dealing with Knives

The knife can be the reason for severe injuries if you are not using it properly. You should handle it in the following ways:

  • 1. Try to keep the knives sharp so that you don't have to stress a lot while cutting. It can cause minor injuries,
  • 2. While cutting rounded foods, make sure to cut in one side. It will help you in chopping,
  • 3. Always try to be attentive while using a knife. Hold it properly and store it in the wooden case or the drawer.

Handling Kitchen Utensils

Properly using kitchen utensil ensures hygiene and safety. Follow these:

  • 1. Properly hold the spoon or spatula through hand grips. Thus, it will not slip,
  • 2. To flip the food in hot oil or boiling water, you can use tongs,
  • 3. Go slowly at first while using sharp tools like graters, zesters, and mandolins,
  • 4. Always keep the kitchen utensils clean and hygienic. It inhibits food contamination. Also, carefully put the sharp tools in a safe place.

Prepare food safely

You also have to cautious while preparing food to prevent food poisoning. Make sure to follow these:

  • 1. While putting the oil into the pan, go slowly to avoid oil splashing,
  • 2. Slowly put the food into the pan, whatever it has hot oil or water. If the oil or water splash accidentally, it can cause minor burns.,
  • 3. Always be attentive while cooking, watch the food consecutively,
  • 4.Avoid cleaning the hot pan; it can burn your hand. So, let it cool at first,
  • 5.While cooking in high temperature, avoid using olive oil as it has a low smoking point. Instead, use ghee or coconut oil.

Intelligently buy foods

While shopping for food, you have to be more cautious. Because food safety starts in the grocery shop. Make sure to;

  • 1.Buy food that has an adequate expiry date,
  • 2.Never buy meat that comes in the torn packet,
  • 3.Keep the meat and fish in separate shopping bag. Never keep it with fresh foods,
  • 4.Buy foods as much as you need.

Additional Tips

  • 1.Healthy food is ensured through proper food storing. Wrap the meat securely and refrigerate fresh food immediately. Try to keep the temperature accordingly.
  • 2.Always wash your hand before preparing food to maintain hygiene,
  • 3.Cook the food thoroughly, never undercook or overcook the food,
  • 4.Never keep the cooked food and raw meat together in the freezer,
  • 5.After each cooking session, make sure to clean kitchen countertop, stovetop, and table as well. Clean the sink thoroughly. After cleaning utensils, don't forget to clean the sponges. Finally, dry your hand with a paper towel.
