The older I get, the more I realize that many individuals take their knowledge of grammar for granted. I don't expect that everyone know when to use a semicolon properly; however, there are certain basics of grammar that, when mastered, make you a better human. You're welcome in advance.
1. To vs. too
This one is pretty simple. You go to a place. I have brown hair too. If you can replace it with "as well," then it's should be too.
2. Its vs. It's
Remember contractions? That's what it's is. Ask yourself, "If I replaced the word it's with 'it is,' would it still make sense?" If so, then the word you're looking for is it's.
3. There vs. They're vs. Their
Put the box over there.
It's their house.
They're having so much fun. (Again, if you could replace it with "they are" Then this is the one you're looking for)
4. Your vs. You're
Your refers to possession. If you can replace it with "you are" then you're is what you need. Contractions are important people.
5. Me vs. I
I have a simple trick that makes this one easy. If you take the other person out of the sentence, the word should still make the sentence sound okay.
Ex. "Holly and I went to the store" If I took Holly out of the sentence then it would still make sense. You're welcome.
Bonus Punctuation tip!
Punctuation should go immediately after the last word. Don't leave a space !
Now go forth as a better human who can understand basic grammar!
