"Based on a true story". Once those words pop up on a tv screen it instantly has my full attention. Movies based on true events give the viewer more insight into the lives of people they look up to, or events that they may not know a lot about. Granted, some of these films have become more hollywood and lose sight of the real story, but these 10 films come very close to the person or event depicted. Here are my top 10 favorite films that are based on a true story:
1. Walk The Line (2005)
Walk The Line portrays the hard life of country music rebel Johnny Cash. From growing up on a cotton farm in Arkansas to his big break with Sun Records and how he found the love of his life June Carter.
2. The Butler (2013)
Cecil Gaines serves in the White House for eight sitting U.S Presidents witnessing many major events in U.S History.
3. Lincoln (2012)
At the peak of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln fights with members in his administration to create the 13th Amendment and reunite the people of America.
4. The Theory of Everything (2014)
The Theory of Everything portrays the life of both Stephen and Jane Hawking as Stephen suffers from ALS.
5. Straight Outta Compton (2015)
From Compton, California the rap group N.W.A emerges into the world of rap music.
6. Wild (2014)
After losing her mother, Cheryl Strayed reflects on her life by hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.
7. The Blind Side (2009)
Michael Oher, a homeless teenager is adopted by the Touhey Family and becomes a professional NFL player.
