Picture this: It’s the morning, you’re getting ready for the day, and you open up your holy grail of a makeup bag. You run through your normal routine—but what’s this? You're running out of your Smashbox brow pencil?
You feel the walls start to cave in, and you swear the sky is going to fall if you walk out of your dorm eyebrow-less. How the heck are you supposed to slay the day away without your trademark eyebrows? (Note: This is an actual struggle of mine and others out there who were not blessed with naturally great brows).
The nearest makeup store that sells your product is 30 minutes away, and there is no way you’ll be able to trek all the way there by tomorrow. Oh, if only they could conveniently sell makeup on campus!
Luckily, Barnes & Noble College is launching a new on-campus beauty concept called The Glossary, which basically brings a small section of cosmetics to college campuses nationwide, making it easier for a quick makeup haul at any moment of the day. Getting a new lip color to match your new dress, hiding your ugly nails with a new nail polish color, or changing your day look to something more for a night out with the gals will be as easy as getting textbooks. Treating yourself to the newest makeup palette can be done in the luxury of your college bookstore, but with an environment like Sephora.
In fact, it would be like having an Ulta or even a Sephora right on campus. The Glossary would be selling high end to drugstore brands, ranging from Smashbox to Covergirl to L'oreal.
Even if you aren’t big on makeup, you’ll still fully benefit from The Glossary on campus. You’ll be able to treat yourself and unwind after a stressful day by taking a nice bubble bath when you buy some nice smelling bubble baths from Philosophy, which they carry at The Glossary. Or if you prefer something more organic, Burt’s Bees will also be made available.
Currently, The Glossary is set up at four colleges, including Emory University, Southern Methodist University, Tulane University, and the College of William & Mary. Barnes & Noble College intends on expanding The Glossary to more campuses nationwide, so fingers crossed that Southern Oregon University is in their plans!
