A while ago, I made a list of movies you might not have heard of but should definitely see. This time, I'm suggesting some tunes you should check out.

I often find it overwhelming at how much good music is out there that I haven't listened to. There are so many talented bands and artists that are deserving of more recognition. I am constantly looking to expand my music taste into the realm of the less heard of. If you're like me, you've come to the right place. I have compiled a list of some lesser known, but deeply talented, artists and bands that are worth giving a listen to.

1. The Wrecks

These guys claim they are "5 kids who snuck into a recording studio to self-produce their debut EP". Their EP boasts classic garage band vibes. Funnily enough, my dad was the one who introduced me to this band by sending me a text to check them out after hearing them on Alt Nation. Thanks, Dad.

Song To Listen To: "Favorite Liar"

Check out if you like: Five Seconds of Summer, blink-182

Website: wearethewrecks.com

2. TV Girl

This band from LA is undoubtedly unique and produces a sound that is remnant of old school synth pop. They achieve this unique vibe by mixing sound bites and catchy beats with raspy vocals.

Song to listen to: "Birds Don't Sing"

Check out if you like: Mac Demarco, Phantogram

Website: tvgirl.bandcamp.com

3. Clubhouse

Local artists represent! It's pretty cool that these talented guys are from my area. The first time I got to see them was at the CD 102.5 Holiday Show when Clubhouse won a contest to preform on the same stage as Circa Waves, Foals, Wolf Alice, and Silversun Pickups. A few months later, I took my friends to see them in a tiny crowded bar for my 18th birthday since I couldn't seem to get their electric beachy pop jams out of my head. No doubt that Clubhouse will go far. Never underestimate local artists; twenty one pilots started out playing in the same venues that they are now, after all.

Song to listen to: "Blame the Weather"

Check out if you like: Circa Waves, The Beach Boys

Website: clubhouseband.com

4. Frankie Cosmos

Frankie Cosmos is headed by singer-songwriter Greta Kline and creates melancholy tunes perfect for listening to on a Sunday afternoon. Her soft and smooth voice is complemented well by the electric undertones that many of her songs possess.

Song to listen to: "Floated In"

Check out if you like: Regina Spektor, Melanie Martinez

5. Hinds

These badass ladies are originally from Madrid. Their retro sound and swoon-worthy voices make for some pretty great music. They're so cool that it's slightly intimidating (in good way of course). Do you think they would accept an application from me to be their personal hype girl/best friend?

Song to listen to: "Garden"

Check out if you like: The Smiths, Florence + The Machine

Website: hindsband.com

6. Alvvays

The group from Toronto delivers sweet indie pop melodies. Their songs offer a familiar and warm sound. Whenever I listen to them, I feel like it should be the '60s and I should be sitting on the sand of a beach off the coast of California. If only, right? Their song "Archie, Marry Me" makes me want to find a nice guy name Archie to fall in love with, just to sing it to him.

Song to listen to: "Adult Diversion"

Check out if you like: The Beatles, Angel Olson

7. Little Comets

Described as playing "kitchen sink indie" music, you can find a little bit of every kind of sound in this English trio's tunes. Some songs contain poppy beats that are perfect for dancing, while others offer a much more mellow vibe. With each song, you're hit with something new, which is why these guys are definitely worth checking out.

Song to listen to: "Dancing Song"

Check out if you like: Bombay Bicycle Club, The Maccabees

8. We Are Trees

While the band from Virginia Beach has only released two EPs, one in 2010 and one in 2011, their dreamy acoustic songs make them noteworthy.

This band from Canada creates songs that just make you happywhen listening to them. Their bubblegum pop and indie rock fusion will surely put a smile on your face. Check out if you like: Paramore, Tove Lo

17. Skylar Spence

Much like TV Girl, Spence cleverly uses soundbites to enhance his unique sound, which is electronic with some classic disco flare. His music is just fun, especially his song "Fiona Coyne", which is an ode to the iconic Degrassi character of the same name.

Song to listen to: "Fall Harder"

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
