As students at Ball State University, we understand the ups and downs that come with living in Muncie, Indiana. We also understand that we at Ball State have had (and are making) some great accomplishments within our student body, but we also know we are far from perfect. Here is the best and worst Urban Dictionary definitions of the city of Muncie, the great home of Ball State University.
OK OK, we may not be IU or Purdue, so one could say we are the redheaded step child — but hey, if we can out drink any other school in the Hoosier state at least we're doing one thing right!
Finally, one definition recognizing some of our great alumni! Sadly, we do at some point have to mention sports, and well, all Ball State students can admit we really could step up our game in that area.
To sum it all up, lets just stick with this definition:
But we wouldn’t have
Ball State without the lovely city of Muncie or what we prefer to call it, Funcie.
Muncie is not so cute, so from the outside looking in, it looks little like this..
But to us cardinals, it seems a little more like this...
Muncie is the home we never thought we would call home, but after going through four years here, we are proud to call ourselves Muncie Locals at the end of the day.
Here are a few slag terms most Muncie locals/BSU students will understand:
Muncie Local: One may call themselves this when residing in the city of Muncie, Indiana. One who has lived there from quite some time and realizes how unsafe/scary Muncie really is but continues to stay in this city.
Chirp Chirp: With the Ball State mascot being a cardinal, chirp chirp is what the students use to represent being a cardinal. This is most seen on photo captions, football games, and occasionally being yelled by drunk students.
The Village: Also known as the heart of the nightlife in Muncie, the village is the place to be, at least when you're 21. Home to the few decent bars, this city can provide us with food and apartments.
Apple Skol: The drink all Ball State students will have at least once in their span of four years here, the cheap inexpensive liquor that we all love to hate but we are forced to love. It is by far Ball State's drink of choice when one has no money and is looking for a good time.
Being a Ball State student has it's ups and downs, good days and bad ones; and is our best friend one day and we hate it the next. But living in Muncie brings us some sort of joy we wont ever quite understand but we keep going here year after year. So here's to us, embracing the definitions we us cardinals will only understand. Chirp Chirp!
