Baking With Josh: Chocolate Chip Cookies

I've been told people like my cookies so I am here to share them with you.

Baking With Josh: Chocolate Chip Cookies

Baking is hard! I am here to make it easier. Follow my instructions and I will teach you how to make some of the most delicious chocolate chip cookies ever!

What you will need…

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour (I suggest King Arthur Flour brand)

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

1 cup or 2 sticks of butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups of chocolate chips

Optional: 1 cup of nuts or 1 cup of white chocolate chips

Once you get all of your ingredients you are ready to begin!


Step 1: Mix together the dry ingredients(i.e. flour, baking soda and salt) in a small mixing bowl. Set aside for later use.

I recommend not wearing black while baking because flour tends to stick to black clothing a lot more than any other color. Anna Kendrick is being extremely reckless with her flour usage I suggest not following her example!

Step 2: Place softened butter, both granulated and packed sugar and vanilla extract into a mixer and begin to mix them together

And no I do not mean physically punch the butter because that would be insane!


Step 3: Once the butter and sugar mixture reach a creamy consistency add in the eggs one at a time.

When adding the eggs add them slowly into the butter mixture. We don't want egg splattering all over the place! Also before adding the next egg be sure to thoroughly mix in the one before it.

I tend to crack my eggs into a separate glass cup in case any eggshells fall in that way no one gets a chunk of shell when they bite into a cookie.

Step 4: Slowly mix together the egg/sugar mixture with the flour mixture we set aside earlier.

MAKE SURE YOU ONLY ADD IN THE DRY MIXTURE GRADUALLY OR IT WILL POOF EVERYWHERE AND YOU DO NOT WANT THAT!

As cute as you may think you look covered in flour what really isn't cute is the clean up afterward.


~~Once this step is achieved you should have a dough like mixture~~


Step 5: Add in the chocolate chips and the nuts/white chips if you have decided to include them in your cookie.

Honestly at this point you could add anything into the dough. From cranberry raisins to peanut butter chips, this is a great base dough for almost any type of cookie!

Step 6: Using whatever method you prefer place the dough onto a cookie sheet into about one tablespoon sized balls.

I prefer to use my hands and roll them into balls. I often find flattening them a little bit on the cookie sheet helps when it comes to baking.


Step 7: Place into oven and bake for about 9 to 12 minutes.

Cooking times may vary based on your oven and how well browned you like your cookies.


Step 8: Dance around your kitchen in anticipation of the amazing cookies you will be eating in less than 15 minutes.

Always add a couple minutes on to your anticipated bake time for time to cool. As much as we all love warm cookies no one wants to be burnt and betrayed by something they love.

Step 9: Enjoy your delicious chocolate chip cookies!
