Fastnacht Day... Donuts galore. It's the perfect way to kick off Lent. But for the bakeries that have to make the pastries, it's not a good day. We work hard, making dozens and dozens of fastnachts in so little time. It's exhausting. Here are a few thoughts that run through our heads on this special day.

1. WHY???

Why are people obsessed with these things? Why do they try to order 60 dozen at the last minute? Why do they not understand why fastnachts are not filled with cream or jelly??

2. "Is something burning in here?"

"Oh no, it's okay. We're just frying off some fastnacts."

3. When your boss asks if you can stay longer when you're about to clock out.

No...no...NO.

4. "Ow! The oil just burned me!"

I hate working with oil so much.

5. "I'm over this."

After about the sixtieth dozen you have made, it's time to call it quits... Just kidding, we're just getting started.

6. "My clothes are so messy!"

I have powdered sugar in places it shouldn't be.

7. "I just lost count..."

I just counted 326 fastnachts...or was it 328?

Anyone know who's cleaning tonight?

9. "So when do I get MY fastnacht?"

"Never," says your manager.

10. "I hate my life."

Me, too.

11. "I deserve a drink after this."

Heck yes we do. Let's do it.
