As the summer comes to a close I can honestly say I had a productive summer. I caught up on movies, shows, and started new TV obsessions. While I'm really proud of myself for starting and finishing a lot of shows, the one thing I'm most proud of is the diverse group of women in the things I watched. So here is a list of 10 female characters that were too awesome to stop watching.
1. Jane, from Jane Got a Gun.
I came across this movie after watching V for Vendetta for the 6th time and wanted to watch another Natalie Portman film and I was not disappointed at all. Natalie Portman has a long list of movies with strong roles such as Padme in Star Wars, and Anne Boleyn from the Other Boleyn Girl. Jane Got a Gun instantly became one of my favorites. This movie tells the story of a woman who must protect her husband from a group of outlaws. Her courage is incredible and her desire to keep her family safe is admirable. If you haven't seen this movie, its time that you have.
2. Nancy from Stranger Things.
When I first began my obsession with Stranger Things I didn't care too much for Nancy, but after a while I began to like her. Her need to find her best friend, Barb, kept her brave enough to risk her life and come face to face with the Dermaggorgan. Basically she's awesome, and she wouldn't let anything stop her from getting revenge.
3. Eleven from Stranger Things.
Eleven was my favorite female character from Stranger Things. Besides her incredible super powers, this girl was the strongest character in the show even through her obvious fear. She did anything she could to keep her friends safe.
4. Suzanne from Orange is the New Black.
I've always enjoyed Suzanne's character even though she's a little crazy, hence the nickname "Crazy Eyes". Clearly dealing with some mental problems she has managed to survive prison and have a positive attitude.
5. Natasha from Avengers.
Besides being able to kick major butt, Natasha is also loyal and knows what true friendship is. She handles her job courageously and was even brave enough to approach the ever terrifying Hulk.
6. Amy Dunne from Gone Girl.
I can't say much without spoiling the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it, but just know this girl is a genius.
7. Christine from The Changeling.
This heartbreaking film shows what true strength is when a mother who is desperate to find her child never gives up even after being placed in an Asylum.
8. Ryan Stone from Gravity.
After an accident leaves her in space alone with no way to communicate, she fights for her life no matter how frigid or terrifying her circumstances become.
9. Celie from The Color Purple.
After facing abuse from her father and husband, Celie manages to survive no matter how trying things become. She finds the ability to lover herself when no one else did. This powerful story demonstrates someone's ability to love themselves no matter how many people told her she was worthless.
10. Annalise from How to Get a way with Murder.
This strong lawyer never lets her crazy personal life interfere with her ability to do her job. She is beyond brilliant and helps her students when most professors wouldn't go to such lengths.
