Everyone has bad days from time to time, but sometimes you just have a bad day like, nothing is going right and everything is weird and you don't know what to think or believe or do and you just want to speak in long-winded run-on sentences like this one to anyone who will listen.
I totally feel you. Here are some tips for making the most of your bad day and feeling better ASAP.
1. Don't feel bad about feeling bad.
As much as you'd like to, you can't be happy all the time. It is impossible, and an unrealistic expectation to have for yourself. Don't get down about the fact that you're unhappy. Instead, acknowledge that you don't feel well, and then have peace with knowing the feeling will pass. Whether through actively working through a problem, waiting until you get out of a weird mood, or trying something to distract you, you'll be back to your normal, happy self soon enough.
2. It's not the end of the world.
Everyone has bad days, and a bad day doesn't mean that your life is bad. You can have a great life with many obstacles. It's about how you deal with the obstacles and what you learn from them. Look at each obstacle as an opportunity to learn something and challenge yourself. By distancing yourself from the problem and looking at it through another perspective, you'll be more likely to find creative solutions and have fewer negative emotions as a result.
3. Don't forget to eat and sleep.
These are essential for coping, surviving, and thriving. Don't sacrifice sleep or food because of your bad day. A lack of sleep will only exacerbate your problems, and being hungry never helped anyone.
4. It'll be over soon enough.
No matter your reason(s) for having a bad day, you can take peace in knowing that it will be over at midnight, leaving room for a new day and better things to come. Remember, comedy is tragedy and time. Something that seems mortifying now might be something you laugh about later.
5. Listen to music.
Make a playlist of music that speaks to what you're feeling, and take a moment to just listen and relax yourself.
6. Talk to friends, but don't gossip
If you are an extrovert, talking with your friends can help you to talk out your emotions and problems. However, this doesn't mean you should dump all of your problems, your friends' problems, and world issues on one person. Tell them what you need to make yourself feel better, and, more importantly, be there for them when they have a bad day themselves.
